Pro-Angler Information Nights 2008 PDF Print E-mail

We are pleased to announce our Pro-Angler information nights are again scheduled for this year in June, July and August 2008. This year we feature Tasmania, Christmas Island and New Zealand.

These information nights are intended to-

• Provide experienced and novice anglers, their wives, partners and children with an insight on what to expect when they travel beyond their normal fishing areas.
• Introduce anglers to the unique experiences they can expect by knowledgeable anglers (guides etc) with a local understanding of their areas.
• Advise anglers on what the travel requirements are and what reasonable expectations to have of the trip. This will include the new skills you will learn and how your angling experience will be richer as a result of ‘widening your angling horizon’.
•  This advice is intended for the ‘do it yourself traveller’ and the angler looking for guided assistance and even companionship using professional guiding services. Newbies, wives, partners and young anglers are welcome. Lady fishers are very welcome.
• For a small charge ($10) interested anglers will enjoy an entertaining night at each venue including drinks, snacks and, if interested, special discounts on Proangler gear on the night.
• These nights will be informative, fun, and there is a very good chance you will go home with a prize from the prize draw. You can be assured of good value for your $10.00 and go home having learnt something new.

Australia first entered the World Fly Fishing Championships in May 1987 as an invitation team.

This was done on the understandingthat for Australia to be involved in future competitions, an organisation representing our country and recognised by the International Federation of  Sport Fishing, would be formed.

Fly Fish Australia Incorporated (FFA) was formed in 1989 and became the recognised body by the International Federation of Sport Fishing for the purpose of selecting teams to represent Australia.

The Board reserves the certain rights with regard to certain matters in the final team selection process, but this is done through the team selection panel which is charged with the responsibility of ensuring the best team for the competition type is chosen.
There are now essentially two principal rules that apply for fly fishers to gain selection to an Australian Team.
Firstly, they must be financial members of Fly Fish Australia and, secondly, they must have qualified in competitions which comply with the rules of Fly Fish Australia.
