    37. Soft Plastic Fishing

    http://www.softplasticfishing.com.au

In Australia, fishing with crank baits and spinners are a fine way to catch fish, but fishing with plastics requires the ability to make a rubbery looking bait come alive and look real to a fish. This can be a bit more difficult than it seems because the biggest skill required in this type of fishing is patience.

Toorongo River Chalets. Time flows differently here. Maybe it’s the mountain air. Maybe it’s the river. A weekend at the Toorongo River Chalets can be more refreshing than a week at some other resorts.

For starters, the atmosphere isn’t piped in. It rolls down off the mountains and fills your chest with possibilities. And the quiet babble of the river, unwinding through the valley, helps you make sense of your week. There are three chalets on the property.

All have log fires. Two have spas. Far enough apart to hire on their own – for quiet escapes. Close enough for strolling to if your getaway is a little more communal. Just five minutes from Noojee Village. Nestled in the lush Toorongo Valley on 150 pristine acres. In fact the property is a sanctuary for plants and wildlife, with many exotic birds and native animals present for those on the lookout. Some of Gippsland’s best attractions can be found within 40 minutes drive from the chalets, including Mt Baw Baw, the Toorongo Falls, the Ada tree, the trestle bridge, wineries, and fine dining.

Australia first entered the World Fly Fishing Championships in May 1987 as an invitation team.

This was done on the understandingthat for Australia to be involved in future competitions, an organisation representing our country and recognised by the International Federation of  Sport Fishing, would be formed.

Fly Fish Australia Incorporated (FFA) was formed in 1989 and became the recognised body by the International Federation of Sport Fishing for the purpose of selecting teams to represent Australia.

The Board reserves the certain rights with regard to certain matters in the final team selection process, but this is done through the team selection panel which is charged with the responsibility of ensuring the best team for the competition type is chosen.
There are now essentially two principal rules that apply for fly fishers to gain selection to an Australian Team.
Firstly, they must be financial members of Fly Fish Australia and, secondly, they must have qualified in competitions which comply with the rules of Fly Fish Australia.
